The Aleut Region

The Aleut Region encompasses the Pribilof and Aleutian Islands of Alaska, a remote and resource-rich area that has been home to the Unangax people for millennia. Defined by dramatic volcanic landscapes, thriving marine ecosystems, and a rich cultural heritage, this region is both a natural treasure and a vital economic hub. Aleut Ventures operates exclusively within the Aleut Region, in Adak and Cold Bay, leveraging its resources to drive sustainable economic growth while honoring the traditions, environment, and resilience of its Unangax shareholders.

Adak

Whether you come to Adak Island for business or pleasure, you are sure to find a welcoming community surrounded by pristine natural beauty. Although Adak is now home to a modest population, it was once a thriving metropolis and a hotbed of military activity on the Aleutian chain with upwards of 7000 residents. We are confident that Adak and its existing infrastructure will thrive once again. Not only as a support services headquarters for oil and gas exploration projects in the Arctic, or as a megaport hub for the transshipment industry, but also as a catalyst for continued development of Alaska fisheries.

Adak is an investment in Alaska’s future. By investing in Adak’s future, we are investing in a burgeoning arctic oil and gas exploration theater and in a new frontier for the transshipment industry.

Cold Bay

Situated in Aleutians East Borough, Alaska, the city of Cold Bay is the southernmost city on the Alaska Peninsula. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes, the city is located between the Bering Sea and Cold Bay, a bay of the Pacific Ocean.  It is known for its stark beauty and is surrounded by mountain peaks, while also featuring a landscape of rolling tundra, countess lakes, and windswept beaches. Cold Bay is surrounded by the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge and is home to a vast array of wildlife, including otters, puffins, and the eelgrass of Izembek Lagoon supports nearly the world’s entire population of black brant during their migration.

Despite its remote location, Cold Bay plays a vital role in aviation and serves as a strategic stopover for flights between North American and Asia. The Cold Bay Airport features one of the largest runways in the state, which facilitates travel and commerce in an otherwise isolated region. Cold Bay’s economy is sustained by fishing, hunting, and visitors looking to experience the wild beauty of the Alaska Peninsula’s wilderness.
